Jason Rice (born May 13, 1986) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball.

Professional career

Rice was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 11th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. He was acquired by the Boston Red Sox in the triple-A phase of the 2008 Rule 5 draft.[1]

The Red Sox traded Rice to the Oakland Athletics for Conor Jackson on August 31, 2011.[2] He was called up to the majors for the first time the next day.[3] Rice did not appear in any games for the Athletics.

Rice was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians on September 6, 2011. He was subsequently optioned to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.

Rice was designated for assignment on September 13, 2011. After clearing waivers, he was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus on September 19, 2011.

On November 22, 2011, he signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.
